Many people think that you are able to use a “putting ball” but if you’ve read the USGA rules, they do not allow this. You can lift and clean and replace but you cannot exchange the ball until it is holed or lost. So really, it doesn’t matter when it comes to putting; you should choose a ball that suits your long game like Dennis said.
